Norepinephrine is a close relative of dopamine and acts as the main chemical messenger for the sympathetic nervous system. This system is responsible for many involuntary body functions, like pulse and blood pressure. The loss of norepinephrine may help explain some of the non-motor features seen in PD, like fatigue and blood pressure regulation abnormalities. It's estimated that 6.3 million people suffer from PD worldwide.
