(SAP Evaluation)Truck driving is a dangerous occupation and the use of drugs or alcohol by truck drivers creates an even greater safety risk. The Office of Drug and Alcohol Policy and Compliance (ODAPC) under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has established drug and alcohol testing regulations to ensure that commercial truck drivers do not operate their vehicles when they are impaired by these substances. Drivers who violate these regulations face serious consequences. In addition, trucking companies that employ drivers who violate the regulations may also be subject to penalties.
SAP Program for Truck Driver SAP Evaluation Program meets the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) requirements for a qualified Substance Abuse Professional (SAP). The program is required for CDL holders who have had a positive drug or alcohol test, or who have refused to take a test. The program includes an evaluation, education/treatment recommendations, and follow-up testing. The evaluation must be conducted by a SAP who has been trained and certified by FMCSA.
