A combination of anti-depressant medication and psychological therapy has been shown to be most effective for the treatment of depression. Cognitive-behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy are the most effective therapeutic approaches for the treatment of depression. If you are interested in exploring the underlying causes of your depressive symptoms, cognitive analytic therapy could also be helpful.

At Neya Psychiatric Clinic, you are likely to meet first with our Consultant Psychiatrist for a review of your medication needs if this isn t already being managed by your GP. You might decide that medication isn t for you at this time in which case you might be assessed by one of our team of psychologists. Following this meeting there will be a recommendation as to which therapeutic approach best meets your needs. Our psychologists are all trained in the treatment of depression.
